Description
Krill contains large amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. The ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 is 15: 1 in these little creatures. The omega 3s and 6s are bound to the phospholipids in krill oil.
The oil from krill is also characterised by a high astaxanthin content. Astaxanthin is a carotenoid that gives the krill their colour as well as these capsules. This astaxanthin protects the oil from oxygen oxidation and naturally makes it last longer. This means that the capsules can be made without preservatives.
Interesting facts about krill and how they are caught.
- Krill are crustaceans that live in pristine waters in Antarctica. An innovative and environmentally friendly fishing method called "Eco-Harvesting ™" is used to catch the krill for these capsules. The krill are transported directly to the ship and are processed immediately.
