Description
The common wood is a species of Artemisia in the basket family (Asteracea). It is related to mugwort and wormwood. The semi-shrub-like, herbaceous plant used to be cultivated in herb and monastery gardens. The plant is rich in essential oils, bitter substances and tannins. Thanks to its spicy, aromatic, bitter taste, boar's rue was often used as a spice for fatty dishes.
